Recognizing the Elements of Culture

We have talked this past week about the elements of culture and have looked at numerous aspects of American culture, as well as identified these elements in other cultures.  Your assignment is to compare and contrast the differences between values and norms and identify examples of each. 

Requirements:

-Short paragraph comparing and contrasting values and norms:  What are they by definition?  How do you identify them?  What roles do they play in our lives?  How do they determine our behavior?

-Identify one example for each of these: one value and one norm from your textbook, one value and one norm from the worksheets we have been using and one value and one norm that you recognize in your own life and behavior.  When you identify these, please put it in some kind of explanatory context with complete sentences; do not just list the item.
